Personal Information
My name is Bill Olmesdahl and I live in central
New York state, USA. I was born in 1941 and am retired from IBM . My wife and I have
fifteen acres in North Pharsala, near Norwich, where I run a small archery shop. I first
started shooting in 1950 with a wooden self bow; wooden arrows with brass points; cut
nocks; and feathers. I quickly fell in love with the sport of archery. In 1966 I
transfered with IBM from the Fishkill, NY location to set up a new plant in Manassas, VA.
I was using a Red Wing hunter bow. I found that in Virginia, the archers were on the
leading edge of technology. Everyone used compound bows and arrows made of aluminum. Since
my introduction to compound bows, I have used them exclusively. Currently I own and use
three compound bows (one set up for F.I.T.A.) manufactured by companies like Alpine (for
tournament shooting), Martin (for hunting), and Mountaineer (also for hunting). I have
continued to grow with the sport, NFAA, ASA, IBO, FITA with the Seniors games and
hunting big game with the bow.
I have an archery discussion group located on Yahoo, for senior archers and urge anyone who's interested to stop by. You can reach the club site by clicking below:
